Timor Leste, the first new nation of the 21st century, sees its mountains rise each year as Australia’s tectonic plate pushes into Asia. Timor’s beautiful landscape, with peaks descending quite dramatically into pristine ocean with white sandy shores makes this nation a great destination for those who enjoy travelling.
The beautiful mountain landscapes also hold one of Timor Leste’s greatest treasures: the coffee that grows in several districts is one of the nation’s most important export products.
Laclubar, a village situated in a remote and difficult-to-reach part of the half island, is home to some of Timor’s best organic Arabica coffee. Until recently, however, it was not in the spotlight as a promising coffee-production area, mainly because of its remote location. The farmers simply did not have access to the transport and knowledge needed to process and transport their coffee, but now the Hummingfish Foundation is changing that.
Watch the Maubere Mountain video to see how our farmers produce one of the world’s best coffees.
A big thanks to our friend Graham Uden for producing this amazing video about Maubere Mountain Coffee.
