Maubere Mountain Coffee Festival

FullSizeRender 3 copy

In June of 2017 we invited all the people of Manatutu District and honourable guests to join us in Suku Batara to share our passion for coffee and nature and celebrate Maubere Mountain Coffee’s 5th harvest. The main event was our sacred or Lulik ceremony which gave thanks for a healthy ecosystem and high quality coffee. We also invited all participants, including former President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Jose Ramos-Horta, to join us for an amazing sunrise hike to the summit of Maubere Mountain.

After 5 years of hard work, the coffee from Suku Batara have been transformed from one Timor’s least know and sought after coffees to what is now arguably Dili’s #1 coffee brand, Maubere Mountain Coffee. We are very proud of all the hard work of our staff, coffee farmers and loyal customers who have joined together with a sense of professionalism and pride.

Please have a look at our Facebook page and our photo gallery set up for the coffee festival.

Maubere Mountain Beer

2-2Do you love Maubere Mountain Coffee?

Now you can drink beer AND enjoy your favourite coffee at the same time (while you are at it, make someone you love happy).

As you know, The Hummingfish Foundation is working on a project which supports the coffee farmers of Laclubar in Timor-Leste, called the Maubere Mountain Coffee Project. The mission of this project is to grow, process, brand and export the world’s best coffee, with the model of adding value to green products and giving back 100% of proceeds to the community. Maubere Mountain Coffee is 100% organically grown, handpicked, processed Arabica coffee at single origin.

We are proudly to collaborate with HK Brewcraft and Lobmeyr crystal glassware to present a meaningful project – a taste of love. We would like to raise the awareness of social enterprises and people in need around the world. This special coffee beer is designed for celebrating this meaningful and memorable collaboration between three places, Hong Kong, Timor-Leste and Austria.

Clean Kids

untitled-357We are so pleased to launch the Clean Kids Project at EBC Fatuquero School in Gleno of Timor-Leste on 4th February 2016.

The project aims to develop handwashing practice and knowledge on hygiene in school. As a pilot, in the coming three months, we will provide the school, all the students and their families with our Ai-Funan Soaps, publish a monthly newsletter and organize different hand washing activities for the school.

untitled-451The newsletter titled Maun tolu Manutolum Lao Rai (The Adventures of Three Brothers) is a monthly comic about three brothers who went through an extraordinary journey to cure their very sick parents. Developed by talented Hong Kong illustrator Kiki Wong, the newsletter conveys hygienic information in a funny and creative way.

Thanks to our donors including Jetour, apart from having water and soaps for handwashing in school, students are given soaps every weekend to bring home for family use. The soaps are made by all natural ingredients from our Ai-Funan Team.

A Handwashing Songs Competition was the first activity of the Clean Kid Project. In order to wash hands properly and thoroughly, students are taught to scrub their hands at least 20 seconds. The song will be used as a timer. Senior classes were asked to develop a 20-second handwashing song which they can sing when they wash their hands.

IMG_3539Thanks to the Hong Kong Renaissance School, three awards were set up for the competition: 1stprize – $100USD, 2nd Prize – $50USD and 3rdPrize – $20USD.

Renaissance Collage year six kids raise $22,236hkd during Hummingfish fundraiser

IMG_2775 1We would like to thank the Renaissance Collage year six kids for their outstanding effort selling Maubere Mountain Coffee and Ai-Funan all natural handmade soaps at Renaissance College during the week of November 9th, 2015.

As you know, The Hummingfish Foundation is dedicated to the support and promotion of community-based nature tourism and Green Entrepreneurs throughout the world as a means of providing people in developing countries with sustainable incomes while protecting the vulnerable unspoiled natural environments their communities depend on.

The ecosystems of the world depend on hard working young people such as the Renaissance kids and Hummingfish would not be able to achieve our vision of adding value to nature without them.

Awesome job and thank you so much.

Have a look at our Maubere Mountain Coffee project.
